S01E01 Meet the Gang

Gunner Solomons struggles to conduct a rehearsal for the Concert Party without Gunner Graham, the pianist, who is stuck on jankers thanks to Sergeant Major Williams. The Sergeant Major insists that Graham should be busy painting stones white instead of playing for what he dismissively calls a 'bunch of puffs'. Desperate, Solly enlists the Bearer to take a note to the Colonel, successfully getting Graham released from his punishment to join the rehearsal. However, during the evening's performance, chaos erupts as a large crowd of locals stages an anti-British protest outside the camp, leading to the Sergeant Major getting covered in the dung of a sacred animal—ruining his best tunic.
